FAQs
Every piece we offer is authenticated in-house, using a structured process built from years of specialist experience in the match-worn boot market.
We assess key player-spec indicators such as:
- personalisation & player ID details
- custom sizing and bespoke fit
- athlete-spec soleplates and components
- material grade and build characteristics
- brand-specific manufacturing tells
Every qualifying item is issued with a BC Boots UK Certificate of Authenticity (COA), confirming it has passed our authentication checks and meets our standards.
Match-Issued – Boots prepared for and issued to the player for match use but showing no evidence of wear. These are often unworn spare pairs produced to the player's exact professional & biomechanical specifications.
Player-Worn – Boots that are confirmed to have been worn by the player, typically in training sessions and/or pre-match warm-ups. Exact match use of the specific pair is unconfirmed. Player-worn pieces remain genuine, used professional-level equipment worn by the athlete.
Match-Worn – Boots that have been worn by the player during an official competitive match. Where possible, match-worn pairs may be photo-matched to specific fixtures or periods of use.
Each category is player-spec and significantly different from retail pairs — but match-worn pieces often carry added historic significance.
Value is determined by a range of collector-grade factors, including:
- The player (global icons command premium value)
- Match-worn vs player-worn vs match-issued status
- Rarity and uniqueness of the exact model/colourway
- Player-spec modifications (soleplate, sizing, materials, custom features)
- Historical significance (goals, milestones, competitions, seasons)
In most cases, match-worn pairs carry a higher premium due to their direct on-pitch history.
It’s normal for some player pairs to arrive without insoles.
Many professionals use:
- The same insole across multiple pairs
- Custom orthopaedic inserts made specifically for their feet
- Sponsor-provided or third-party bespoke insoles
Because these insoles are often essential to the player’s comfort and performance, they are frequently removed and kept for continued use.
We do not “restore” match-worn boots.
Match-worn pieces are collectible artefacts — and cleaning can remove or alter wear evidence that collectors value.
Where appropriate, boots may be lightly prepared for presentation, but we aim to preserve authenticity and originality at all times.
