FAQs

Every piece offered by BC Boots UK is authenticated in-house through a structured, multi-stage process built on years of specialist experience in match-worn and player-worn footwear.

Our assessment may include:

  • Personalisation & player ID details
  • Model, colourway and era verification
  • Athlete-spec soleplates, components and materials
  • Wear patterns, alterations and other identifying features
  • brand and factory-specific manufacturing characteristics

Where sufficient match imagery is available, BC Match Verification™ is used to compare the item against documented photography and identify corresponding characteristics.

Every BC Boots UK-certified item is supplied with official authentication documentation and recorded within BC Authenticity Verification™, our online registry.

BC Match Verification™ is our proprietary visual verification system for documenting the match use of significant match-worn football boots.

Detailed comparisons are conducted against available match photography, examining identifying features such as wear patterns, material imperfections, stitching, personalisation, soleplate characteristics, staining and player-specific modifications.

These findings are presented through dedicated Evidence Plates, allowing collectors to view the visual evidence supporting the documented match history of the piece.

BC Match Verification™ is applied where sufficient suitable imagery exists. Not every authentic match-worn or player-worn item can be visually matched, particularly where photography is limited or the relevant use took place in private training environments or low quantities of use.

BC Authenticity Verification™ is the official online registry for BC Boots UK-certified items.

Each registered piece is assigned a unique registry ID, allowing collectors to access its official authentication record and review key information including the player, team, season, item classification, model, specifications, authentication summary, match history (where applicable) and supporting imagery.

The registry supports the physical documentation supplied with the item and provides a permanent digital reference for future verification.

Match-issued — Boots prepared for or allocated to a player for potential match use, but not confirmed as having been worn during an official competitive fixture. These may be unused spare pairs or examples produced to professional or player-specific specifications.

Player-worn — Boots confirmed as having been worn by the player, typically during training, testing, pre-match warm-ups or other professional use. Use of the specific pair during an official competitive match has not been verified.

Match-worn — Boots confirmed as having been worn by the player during an official competitive fixture. Where sufficient imagery exists, their use may be further documented through BC Match Verification™ and dedicated Evidence Plates.

These classifications describe the documented use of the item. Each piece must still be assessed individually according to its specifications, provenance and supporting evidence.

Value is determined individually and may be influenced by:

  • The player and their wider historical significance
  • Match-worn, player-worn or match-issued status
  • The strength of the provenance and supporting documentation
  • Documented match use and visual verification
  • Goals, records, finals, trophies and career milestones associated with the piece
  • Rarity of the model, colourway or player-specific configuration
  • Custom sizing, personalisation and professional modifications
  • Condition, completeness and market demand

Match-worn pieces generally command a premium because of their direct competitive history. However, use classification is not the only determining factor: an exceptionally rare or historically significant match-issued pair may be more valuable than a less important match-worn example.

Collectors seeking a valuation or wishing to offer an item to BC Boots UK can contact our team with full photographs and provenance information.

It is common for professional player boots to arrive without their original insoles.

Many players use:

  • The same insoles across several pairs
  • Custom orthopaedic inserts produced specifically for their feet
  • Sponsor-provided or third-party bespoke insoles

Because these inserts may be important to the player’s comfort, fit and performance, they are often removed and retained for continued use across multiple pairs of boots.

The absence of insoles is therefore not, by itself, an indication that a pair is incomplete or inauthentic. Each item is assessed according to its full construction, specifications, provenance and documented history.

We do not restore match-worn boots or remove genuine evidence of use.

Mud, staining, scuffing, stitching wear, soleplate damage and material imperfections may form part of the item’s history and can provide important identifying characteristics during authentication and BC Match Verification™.

Where appropriate, surface dust may be carefully removed for presentation. However, our priority is always to preserve the original wear, condition and identifying features of the piece.
